The MENA Editors Network kicked off the new year with a series of specialized training activities, including courses on corporate reputation building, trainer training, and media spokesperson skills. Additionally, the network launched the “New Syria” Digital Media Diploma program, offering free scholarships for Syrian journalists.

Specialized Training Programs to Enhance Media Skills

Week 1

The network began its 2025 activities by organizing a course titled “Corporate Reputation Building Strategies” in the first week of January, in collaboration with Ajwa Media. The course was delivered by trainer Ramadan Al-Mosel and focused on strategies to enhance the corporate image of media organizations and companies in the digital age.

Week 2

In collaboration with Istanbul University and Oqool Academy, the network organized a “Training of Trainers (TOT)” course in Kuwait. The course was led by the President of Istanbul University, Professor Tuncer Can, along with the network’s Director, Aboubakr Ibrahimoglu. It aimed to empower journalists and trainers with professional training techniques.

The course focused on strengthening the professional capabilities of trainers and journalists by utilizing effective training methods. It included a variety of interactive sessions, such as presentations, group learning activities, and open discussions. Participants were introduced to modern training techniques, fundamentals of training program design, and performance evaluation methods.

The course also emphasized the importance of continuous development for trainers as a key factor in improving training quality. Professor Tuncer Can highlighted the vital role of trainers in enhancing the quality of education and training, describing them as the cornerstone of knowledge-based societies.

Aboubakr Ibrahimoglu expressed his delight in collaborating with Istanbul University and Oqool Academy for this program, considering it a significant step toward achieving the network’s vision of enhancing journalistic performance in Kuwait and the Middle East.

Week 3

From January 21 to 28, the network conducted a “Media Spokesperson Skills” course in partnership with Ajwa Media. The course was delivered by the network’s Secretary-General, Ismail Al-Jreitli, with the participation of experts Hossam Najm and Aboubakr Ibrahimoglu. It focused on training participants in public speaking techniques and crisis communication management.

Additionally, the course covered essential skills for clearly and persuasively expressing ideas and opinions, developing public speaking abilities, and preparing speeches. Participants also explored various strategies for handling media crises and engaging effectively with the press during challenging situations. The training emphasized the importance of disciplined and strategic communication for media professionals and activists.

Week 4

Launching the “New Syria” Digital Media Diploma

The network concluded the month with the launch of the “New Syria” Digital Media Diploma program, designed to enhance the digital journalism skills of Syrian media professionals. The two-month program provides free scholarships to students under the supervision of Istanbul University, featuring top trainers specialized in digital media, investigative journalism, and fact-checking techniques.

Commenting on the network’s 2025 plan, Secretary-General Ismail Al-Jreitli stated:
“We are committed to developing media professionals’ skills in the region through specialized training programs and strategic partnerships with leading academic and media institutions. Our achievements in January mark another step toward improving media content quality and equipping journalists with the skills needed to navigate the rapidly evolving digital landscape.”
