In an era where the landscape of media is rapidly changing and journalism schools are diversifying, solutions journalism emerges as one of the most important modern approaches. It seeks to move beyond merely reporting crises to analyzing effective responses to social challenges, offering evidence-based, inspiring models that rebuild trust between the media and the public.
As part of this vision, the MENA Editors Network is organizing a new training workshop titled
“From Reporting Crises to Proposing Solutions: Practical Applications in Modern Journalism”
This workshop is part of the International Training Program for Journalists, launched by the network to support and empower Arab journalists across various fields.
🧠 Trainer: Moroccan journalist and media coach Mohamed Massaad, who brings over 20 years of professional experience in journalism and media.
📅 Dates: Monday and Wednesday, October 27 & 29
🕕 Time: Evening sessions – Online
💡 What Is Solutions Journalism, and Why Is It Important?
Solutions Journalism is one of the most innovative trends in contemporary media. It focuses on investigating effective responses to problems rather than simply presenting crises or failures.
It does not overlook challenges but goes deeper by highlighting successful initiatives and real-world experiences that have achieved measurable results and impact.
Its importance lies in the fact that it:
- Restores public trust in journalism through constructive and factual coverage.
- Strengthens the social role of media as an active partner in community development.
- Encourages critical and positive thinking among audiences and decision-makers.
- Brings a new dimension to journalism, combining analysis, creativity, and responsibility.
🗣 Statement by the Executive Director
Aboubakr Ibrahimoglu, Executive Director of the MENA Editors Network, stated:
“Adopting the concept of Solutions Journalism is a crucial step toward rebuilding the trust between media and the public. We need journalism that goes beyond diagnosing problems—one that analyzes solutions and highlights successful models capable of inspiring real change.
This workshop aims to equip Arab journalists with new tools to produce professional content that blends accuracy, analysis, and inspiration, making journalism a constructive force rather than a mere mirror of reality.”
This workshop is part of a broader series of professional initiatives organized by the MENA Editors Network in cooperation with trainers and experts from the Arab world and Europe, reflecting its commitment to developing journalistic performance and building a new generation of Arab journalists capable of practicing responsible and impactful journalism that contributes to development and social progress.
