February 2025 witnessed a series of events and accomplishments that reinforced the role of the MENA Editors Network in advancing the Arab media landscape. Through expanding academic partnerships, organizing specialized training programs, and launching new initiatives to support journalists, the network has taken significant strides in media development. Below are the key achievements from this month:

1. Academic Tour in North Cyprus to Strengthen Collaboration

As part of its efforts to enhance academic cooperation, the network conducted a visit to North Cyprus, where it met with officials from various universities and academic institutions to explore partnership opportunities in digital media and journalism training. The tour resulted in initial agreements on joint training programs and scholarships for journalists pursuing higher education.

Statement from Mr. Aboubakr Ibrahimoglu, CEO of the Network:
“The North Cyprus tour was a crucial step in strengthening academic collaboration with educational institutions in the region. We believe in the importance of providing advanced academic programs for Arab journalists, and we are excited to continue working with our partners in Cyprus to develop joint programs that enhance journalists’ digital media skills.”

2. Establishing the Network’s Morocco Branch

In a significant move to expand its presence in North Africa, the network signed a protocol to establish an official branch in Morocco. This branch aims to support Moroccan journalists by providing specialized training programs, organizing media-related events, and facilitating collaboration between Moroccan and regional media institutions.

3. Completion of the Digital Media and AI Diploma

In collaboration with Istanbul University, the network successfully concluded the Digital Media and Artificial Intelligence Diploma, which lasted for two months and involved journalists from various Arab countries. The program featured intensive training in fact-checking, digital content production, and AI applications in journalism. The program concluded with an official ceremony where certificates were awarded to participants.

4. “Entertainment Journalism” Seminar with Samia Armosh

The network organized a specialized seminar titled “Entertainment Journalism: Between Criticism and Objectivity,” featuring journalist Samia Armosh. The discussion covered the role of entertainment journalism in shaping cultural public opinion, the challenges journalists face in this field, and strategies for balancing artistic criticism with media neutrality.

5. “TV Presentation Skills” Workshop with Shaimaa Hendawi

As part of its commitment to supporting media talent, the network hosted a training workshop titled “TV Presentation Skills,” led by journalist Shaimaa Hendawi. The workshop focused on delivery techniques, body language, television interview management, and on-camera interaction. The session received significant engagement, with participants praising the practical and hands-on training approach.

6. Partnership Agreement with “Nama Academy”

As part of its strategy to expand training partnerships, the network signed a cooperation protocol with Nama Academy, a leading media training institution. This agreement aims to organize joint workshops in digital journalism and new media, offering specialized programs to enhance journalists’ skills.

Statement from Mr. Hossam Najm, Head of the Training Committee:
“February 2025 witnessed the launch of specialized training workshops, and the engagement of participants in our programs has been highly encouraging. We are committed to providing training content that meets the needs of Arab journalists and equips them with the necessary skills to adapt to current technological changes.”

Conclusion

Throughout February 2025, the MENA Editors Network continued its efforts to strengthen academic collaboration, support journalists, and develop training programs, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to advancing the Arab media landscape.
