In a strategic move to enhance the competencies of journalists across the Arab world, the MENA Editors Network has officially announced the launch of the International Program for Training Journalists. The initiative is organized in partnership with Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa and the Palestinian Media Development Network, alongside a number of professional media syndicates and institutions across the Arab region.

The program aims to equip journalists with cutting-edge media skills through diverse training methods, aligned with the region’s cultural context and the rapid technological advancements in areas such as artificial intelligence, solutions journalism, digital media, and modern field reporting.

The first edition of the program is set to launch in August 2025, under the title “Skills of the All-Around Journalist.” The training course will be conducted online via Zoom, spanning four weeks with one session every Saturday evening.

In an exclusive statement, Mr. Aboubakr Ibrahimoglu, president of the MENA Editors Network, stated:

“We are not merely offering a training workshop; we are establishing a sustainable international educational platform that strengthens the role of media in development and nation-building. It promotes the principles of solutions journalism and the use of AI in a way that benefits society and the right to access information. This initiative reflects our vision to cultivate a generation of journalists capable of innovation, leadership, and adapting to professional challenges in a changing world.”

This inaugural edition features the participation of a distinguished group of journalists and trainers from across the Arab world, fostering a spirit of regional collaboration and creating an interactive learning environment that encourages the exchange of experiences and expands professional networks.

Participants will also have the opportunity to obtain an official certificate of participation from Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa (available for a nominal optional fee), adding academic and professional value to the program and raising the standard of journalistic qualification required in today’s media market.
